SEATTLE – Only months after Seattle Police came under heavy criticism for a video of police stomping on a man, there is new controversy, only this time, Seattle Police say that punch came after an officer was assaulted.

The incident happened Monday afternoon and was videotaped by a man who heard an argument and pulled out his camera.

Seattle Police say it all started after an officer observed a man jaywalking across Martin Luther King Junior Way South. And when he attempted to stop him, voices and tension escalated.

A witness took his video camera out and started rolling as police say a crowd gathered and he attempted to arrest two girls for jaywalking.

Seattle Police say the officer believed the girl "was attempting to physically affect the first girl's escape" and when she came at the officer, he "punched her."
