Many arrived in the Valley by the bus load from around the country on Friday. Saturday’s march was expected to draw some 50,000 people; it appeared the number was closer to between 10,000 and 20,000 marchers.
Air15 video showed the marchers stretched out approximately 2 miles along central Phoenix streets. At one point a light rail train got a police escort to keep people off the tracks. Dozens of police officers lined the route, but said there were no arrests.
Critics of the law, set to take effect July 29, say it unfairly targets Hispanics and could lead to racial profiling.
